Evaluation article work continues

This month, the Negotiations Team has continued their work on the evaluation article. The meetings to get input on the draft of the non-traditional teacher evaluation was attended by representatives from childcare, teachers on special assignment, counselors and speech pathologists. My thanks to those folks who took the time from their busy schedules to give us their input and relate the concerns of their peers. We have taken their ideas back to the table and are making changes to address their concerns. Special thanks to Lee Edwards for co-presenting with me at Horace Mann as well as her presentation at the monthly meeting of the nurses.

We have also made very good progress on the evaluation form for teachers in a more traditional setting – that is of course, the classroom. We expect to present those forms for your consideration sometime in January as December is such a short month. Please watch this column and your BTA bulletin board for dates and times. We greatly value your input.

We have begun working on the 2002/2003 and the 2003/2004 calendars. As you are probably aware, this is done with the cooperation of CSEA, BASA, PTA, the district, and the school board. You can expect to hear more about it in a future column.

The negotiations team also met with members of the PAR committee to address their concerns as the program progresses through its first complete cycle. Our thanks to Mary Brewer and Julie Vetrie for making themselves available and keeping us abreast of program developments.

We are pleased to announce that you will be receiving an ESA on December 14 (Earned Salary Advance – otherwise known as a half a check). You will receive the other half of your check on December 28. Please be aware that those with automatic deposit need not do anything, but those that do not can pick up their checks on the 28th at the district office.Checks that are not picked up will be mailed via US mail at the close of business on the 28th. It is our hope that this makes your holidays a little less stressful.

Wishing you and yours the happiest of holidays and a happy, healthy, peaceful and prosperous New Year!
