This may be the hardest article that I have ever had to write. Events are unfolding at a rapid pace, and yet there is so much that we either don’t know or can’t discuss yet, because it hasn’t been finalized at the table, but negotiations continue.
I am certain that you are aware of the district’s financial difficulties, and it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out that we have a stretch of rocky road ahead. I can tell you that we are sitting down with the district to work out as many kinks as we can, but even I don’t know what that means. Although we don’t know what the final version of the cuts will look like, it is BTA’s position that those cuts be made as far away from the classroom as possible.
BTA has taken a problem solving approach to this budget crisis, and until we have finalized the contract we will continue to fight for you and the children you serve.
