We wanted to take this opportunity to thank you for your contribution to the success of our School Board campaign. You rose to the occasion by making thousands of calls, logging over 20 hours of precinct walking, mailing thousands of pieces of literature, and posting over 450 lawn signs. As a result, you made your voices heard, and you made your votes count.
Dave Kemp won a seat by gathering over 50% of the vote and two incumbents were ousted from their seats. Our other two candidates on the slate came in with the second and third highest votes.
Victory is sweet. However, it is now essential for us to finish the race. Let us cross that finish line together. We have begun the process of setting up phone banks and precinct walking. Signs have to be modified by adding a sticker over Kemp’s name. The sign will then read Krekorian and Applebaum. Mailers will need to be addressed and sent.
Now is the time for change! Please make yourself available to help at one or two of these events. I encourage you to challenge your colleagues to make even the smallest of time commitments to this crucial cause. Please ask your BTA Faculty Representative how you can help.
Paul Krekorian and Larry Applebaum are the necessary pieces to this puzzle of success. Each brings several strengths to the Board that are sorely lacking. Their professionalism and respect for teachers and public education are not a mere semblance of truth. These two are proponents of change and will never believe in any system that dismantles or privatizes public education. Like Dave Kemp they believe that public education is ìthe crown jewel of our society.î
Please join us in a concerted effort to finish the job; one more incumbent has to go and Krekorian and Applebaum must come out as winners if we are truly to affect change and turn this District around. You will be contacted soon with all the necessary information.
We have listed on Page 9 all those who helped in the campaign and apologize if we inadvertently omitted anyone. Again, thank you for making it all happen.
