Your BTA/CTA/NEA membership could be jeopardized if you do not maintain your membership during a leave of absence. Are you planning to take a leave of absence due to maternity, illness or other personal reasons? If so, keep in mind the importance of maintaining your membership while on leave. This is critical for the following reasons:
Death & Dismemberment Benefit Plan
Members will keep their eligibility and continuous years of service for CTA’s Death & Dismemberment Plan. The benefit is determined by continuous years of CTA membership. All previous years of continuous membership are forfeited if you let your membership lapse.
CTA Group Legal Services Program
Participation in the CTA Group Legal Services Program requires membership at the time the incident occurs and requires that membership be maintained while legal assistance is being provided.
BabyWise Program
Members eligible for the CTA Well-Baby Program can continue participation while on maternity leave.
Voluntary Life and Disability Plan
These plans are underwritten by UnumProvident and you must maintain your membership to be covered while on leave.
Auto and Home Insurance
Members who take advantage of CTA’s insurance programs can continue their coverage of CTA exclusive rates and without coverage interruption. These are policies offered by A+ Auto and Home Insurance Plus.
If you are planning a leave of absence, please call the BTA office at (818) 240-9180 to find out the steps to take to continue your membership.
