Mark your calendars for Saturday, October 2nd, at 5:00 p.m. at Burbank’s Starlight Bowl. That is the date for In Concert , the first benefit concert sponsored by new Burbank Priority In Education Foundation. The concert features Hollywood Records’ singer/songwriter Josh Kelley, the Crosby Loggins Band, and Burbank’s own Bluelight Band. Other performances will be presented by musical groups from Burbank High School and John Burroughs High School.
All proceeds of the concert will go to benefit Burbank schools. Burbank Priority In Education, BPIE, is a non-profit organization who’s current goal is to help raise money and school supplies for the Burbank Unified School District. Volunteers of the Burbank community consist of business owners, mothers and fathers, city employees and of course everyone who would like to participate. BTA actively supports BPIE and urges members to buy tickets to the concert and ask your friends to attend. Adult General Admission tickets are $20 and children 16 and under are $10.
To purchase tickets call the ticket information line at 818 563-4280. Also, many of the school sites will have volunteers selling tickets and Diana Abasta can provide tickets for BTA Faculty Representatives who want to help out by selling tickets at their school sites. This is a great opportunity to be part of an exciting community effort to benefit our students.
Some excerpts from the concert poster: Josh Kelley crafts guitar-driven pop songs with his deep, breathy voice. His first single, Amazing rocketed up Billboard’s New Artist Chart. Kelley has shared his homespun rock with fans in every corner of the country. His best selling CD is titled For The Ride Home.
Singer-songwriter Crosby Loggins brings his blend of jazz, folk and pop to In Concert. The Crosby Loggins Band has family ties to rock royalty — Crosby is the son of Kenny Loggins, and keyboardist/guitarist Jesse Siebenberg is the son of Supertramp’s Bob Siebenberg.
Founders of the band, ëBluelight’ are rooted in Burbank. Dennis O’Donnell, Art Repola & Michael Hastings; Bruce Hendricks and Rob Sephton round out the regulars. Members have worked with Supertramp, John Hyatt, Thin Lizzy, Ozzie Osbourne & Glyn Johns.
Don’t be left out. Be sure you have tickets for the biggest event ever for Burbank schools.
