California’s Plan for Adopting the CCSS
Under current law (SBX5 1), a California’s Academic Content Standards Commission (ACSC) will adopt the CCSS. A total of 21 members of the ACSC have been announced with the Governor appointing 11, and 5 each from the Assembly and the Senate. The ACSC will compare the current California Content Standards to the CCSS and has the option of adding an additional 15%. The Commission has until July 15 to present its recommended academic content standards in mathematics (and language arts) to the California State Board of Education, which then has until August 2 to adopt or reject the proposed standards. Below is a link to the Common Core Standards.
