NEWS FROM THE TABLE
March 4, 2011
The day began at the BTA office with a discussion about the District’s presentation of the 12-year old side letter suggesting that BTA accept the permanent elimination of two professional development days. It is BTA’s understanding that the funds were not eliminated but rolled into a block grant to be used for any educational purpose. BTA has requested information regarding the amount of the block grant and the programs that it is currently funding. The District stands by its position that since the original language has been eliminated, so should the days.
The District provided additional information previously requested and BTA is still waiting on two items of information.
The District provided counterproposals for Articles 5 and 13 & gave only verbal rejections of Articles 4 and 15 with no written response. BTA requests that all future proposals and counterproposals from the District be in writing.
The teams developed an agenda and clarified expectations for the next session on March 24, 2011 to be held at the District office.
